QuestionQUESTION: Hi Sandra
I was just wondering can rats eat coconut and cranberries
ANSWER: You can check out what is good and not so good for rats on my website, Sandyscritter city.com and check out the diet page.
I would be a bit careful with coconut due to possible choking but a bit of cranberries as long as there are not seeds, wont hurt in moderation and are real good for their urinary tract too!

QUESTION: Hi Sandra
I have been checking out home made rat food and have made up some it says put pasta shapes into the mix is that ok i have heard that pasta that has not been cooked is a choking risk. Is this true.
AnswerWell....yes and no. I myself dont like to use it mainly because the broken pieces can be sharp and can be a potential hazard and I do fear choking on many things, from gooey peanut butter to something they want to eat incrediably fast, which can choke them too.
The spiral shaped colored macaroni,(green, red) which I believe is made from spinach and tomatoes, can be cooked semi so they are not too hard but not soft. This would be alot safer in my opinion.
