My rat is making chirping noises...

Hi Sandra,

I've noticed that every now and then, my rat makes chirping noises. These noises can last from a few seconds to just under a minute. He stops what he is doing, and then he makes these noises.
Should I be concerned about a possible infection?

Does he also have spasmodic type movements during the chirping?  

Sounds like hiccups more than a respiratory infection.

As always, when in doubt, see a vet....errr...a vet that is qualified to treat rats and KNOWS what he or she is doing, of course...which sadly is not an easy task to achieve.

If you need a vet, please allow me to find one that is worth seeing.
