skinny baby rat

Question
My six weel old baby rat has gone from being a healthy weight to not eating and being really bony. I bought her some vitamins for her water but she does not seem to eat, she was really unwell for a day but now she is active but her heart rate is still rapid and she seems to almost have the hiccups. The grass type food does not seem to interest her, or popcorn, or dry weetbix, or biscuits. I really adore my little baby and I would hate to lose her. Her activity is normal but its just that she looks, and feels really skinny. Help!

Answer
Try offering her SOFT foods and see if she'll eat that (yogurt, pudding, baby food, watered down lab block, etc.). If she will, check her teeth and see how they look. If in doubt, see a vet. In the meantime, keep encouraging her to eat high calorie, high fat foods. Don't put vitamins in her water right now.. often rats refuse to drink if their water tastes funny to them. Is she still eliminating (peeing/pooping) okay? Or have you noticed?
