eye problem with white pet rat

My tan rat has pink eyes like his mother, but one of his eye's looks slightly swollen and he's tilting that eye up.  He doesn't seem to be in pain. Even his father seems a little concerned about him.

It sounds like the eye might be infected...is he showing any other symptoms such as sneezing, wheezing, etc?  If you hold his chest close up to your ear, can you hear any labored breathing?  If so, it might be a respiratory infection which can also affect the eyes.  In this case, you need to take him to a vet so that he can be properly evaluated and treated with antibiotics.
