Question
Sandra,
I wrote you earlier regarding my hairless rat, Nakkie, who has been having difficulty getting around post surgery she had not so long ago.

Her condition is so bad that she is unable to groom herself without falling over.

BUT I ran into this dialogue you had with a previous concerned rat owner:

Could she have an ear infection? Nakkie is attempting to eat I am hoping her loss of appetite has something to do with the balance issue? Like I said, she has not gained the weight she lost from the surgery. And it almost seemed like her belly was sunken in around the part that was operated on (well near her chest/armpit region).

I also forgot to mention that the doctor told me the surgery was a bit complicated because there was puss in the center of tumour (so he gave me ten days of antibiotics that I gave her post surgery).

There is still a scab. the surgery was performed about 12 days ago I'd say.

Answer
It could be an inner ear infection but with her being on meds, it should have cleared it up.  Its so hard to say without an exam. However, I would suggest finding another vet to see her. Please let me know your location so I can find another vet for you. Just the fact that doesnt seem to have had a good outcome with the surgery makes me leary about the vet.
