My rats bad scratches

Question

My poor rattie
My year old male rat has mystery scratches that have progressivly gotten worse. His brother who shares the cage gets along very well so I know it's not battle scars. I have been crazy on the internet looking for answers and I've narrowed it down to him scratching because his back itches and it can not be fleas or lice, I've checked. I have kept the cage clean and given him vitamin E oil that I applied to the wound. Today I realized that it is more widespread than I thought and is about a 1/4 of his back and bleeding! Money has been tight and I was wondering what sort of bandaging or medication I should use. And if it does prove to be sever we might be able to take him to a vet but that is very pricy.

Answer
The picture is blurry but from what I can see it looks like it might be ringworm, but only a skin scrapping can be the best way to say if it is.. If its just scabs, and not ringworm you can put neosporin on it.. rub it in real good.  I wouldn't cover it up at all as that could be counter productive.

But if it does get worse you will have to take him to the vet to get it fixed and get the right medication, if he is scratching it because it itches he may have some sort of like I said ringworm or Mange.   these will need vet care.

Try to get a better picture.. again this one is hard to see,
