Screaming parrotlet

Question
Hi,
I purchased a baby parrotlet about 2 months ago...he is now 4 months of age.  He has recently started screaming whenever I leave the room, he hears certain noises, or when he just wants me to let him out of his cage.  I at first tried yelling at him, but was told this is the attention he wants, so I stopped that.  I have now started ignoring him to a point, and when he won't stop I cover him up until he stops, then uncovering him.  This doesn't always work though, as he will sometimes scream with the cover on, or immediately begin screaming when it's off.  I want to teach him right away that this behavior is unacceptable, but I'm not sure if I'm heading in the right direction!  Is this a stage he's going through due to his age, or is this something I will be fighting longterm?  Any suggestions on how to train him against this behavior are very much appreciated!!
Thank you,
Michelle

Answer
hello,
it sounds like he really wants to be with you a lot. I would suggest moving his cage into the room you are in the most. So that he can see you and you can see his also try letting his out of the cage more like leaving the door to the cage open so he can go in and out when he wants. He should stop he may also be just seeing if he gets what he wants. if you have anymore ?S just ask.
