Quaker Parrot changing Mommies????

Question
We have a 2 year old female quaker. My girlfriend and I moved in together and now HoneyGirl has decided to switch Mommies. She has decided that I am her new mommy and is being mean to her original Mom now! I keep scolding her and putting her back in her cage. But she doesnt want anything to do with her original mom now! What can we do to change this behavior and have her accept both of us? This is breaking her Mommy's heart!!! HELP!!!

Answer
This is actually very common with Quakers and other birds. When a bird bonds to another person you just can't force it to like another member in the house. Even though it might be the primary care giver, the bird may still not like her. It sounds like HoneyGirl has chosen you as a mate and that is kind of the bottom line. I could not force you to like someone you just don't like and that is the same with parrots. It is frustrating sometimes but that is her decision. Her original mom will need to give her treats and stuff as much as possible and the bird may tolerate her but may never have the same bond as she will with you.
