I'm doing a assessment at University and i have picked cockatoo's behaviour as my subject. I am hoping you would please be able to answer my question.
Is there anyway to stop cockatoo's from chasing and biting you?
AnswerYes, it is possible to "re-train" and "re-socialize" parrots so that they know what behavior is appropriate and what is not. But it takes a great amount of effort and "re-training" of the bird's owner(s) too. Make sure to check into the book titled "The Beak Book" by Sally Blanchard. It is all about biting and aggressive behavior in parrots- the causes and the possible "cures."
