Question
I bought a ducorps cockatoo 2 weeks ago he has been imported ,has he dosent have a ring on his leg he ie eight months old.i dont really know much about them and i cannot find a book he is really agressive spits and bites do you think with a bit of time and love he will calm down

Answer
Isabella-

If you live in the united states, it is illegal to import wild caught birds.  So, if you bought him in the states, he probably was raised by an irresponsible breeder who did not raise him and socialize him well and was just in it for the money (because Ducorps cockatoos are rare and people will pay high amounts for them in some cases).

Any bird can learn to trust humans if given enough time and love.

Since there is FAR too much for me to go over with you in one posting, I'm going to refer you to some books that should offer you a wealth of information on caring for and earning the trust of your new life-long companion. (As cockatoos should live to be about 60 years of age if properly cared for).

Here are some online articles (all are free):

And here are a couple of books I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend (you can also purchase either of these books through www.amazon.com):

I hope this all helps. Let me know if you have any other questions (after reading through the above material).
