Sick cockatoo

I have a male cockatoo that is appoximatly 3 years old about three months ago i noticed that he was having a petruding rectum and his stool was very messy.  I took him the an avian vet in the area and that did some test to try to figure it out and gave him some meds.  the problem seemed to go away for a while and he returned back to his normal talkive silly self.  However the problem has returned as i noticed last night when he was trying to poop. I am taking him back to the vet today but dont know if we will figure the problem out or just make him better for a time being like last time.  PLEASE HELP ME IF POSSIBLE. and thanks alot for your time    Lacy

Hello Lacy and thank you for your post.
I'm very sorry that your friend is not feeling well.  Have your vet do a complete blood work up to rule out liver or kidney disease.  
You also might want to try taking him to a different vet for a second opinion.  Many times a seconf vet will be able to think of something that the first vet either didn't think about or hasn't seen.
