Question
Hi,
I have an Orange-winged Parrot from Trinidad and have  been feeding him bread soaked in milk. This meal is kind of the norm for parrots in Trinidad although it is unnatural. he has no problem eating it but was wondering if anything is wrong with this meal. (I've been told the milk gives the parrot diarrhea)

Answer
Hello Jabir and thank you for your post.
You have been told correctly about the milk.  This is not a well balanced diet for ANY bird.  Your bird should be getting fresh fruits and vegetables, berries, nuts, and even some well cooked meats.  A pelleted diet is also recommended as an all seed diet is high in fat and can cause liver and kidney trouble.
Please feel free to come back with any more questions that you might have.

Good luck and God Bless.
