chinchilla sleeping habits

Are Chinchillas nocturnal or diurnal? And do they sleep with thier eyes open?

Chinchillas are nocturnal, although they might be awake for short periods during the day, especially in the morning or late afternoon. They sleep with their eyes closed, but they will wake up as soon as you go near their cgae, so that may be hard to see.
