Answer
Dear Brittany,

What a cruel senior 'prank', especially flushing them down the toilet.  That's just so mean.  I'm so glad you saved the mice.  Thank you.

You can probably get a rat rescue to take them in.  I don't know where you live, so I can't tell you where to go, but here is a website with a list of rodent rescue and breeders in most states of the US and in many other countries:

http://www.ratster.com/breederlinks.html

You can also call this number of NARMCI (the North American Rat & Mouse Club, Intl) for help:

1-609-932-1258

Say on the message that you are calling about NARMCI and you have mice that desperately need to be rescued, and tell them where you are.  You can also try emailing the NARMCI president at:

littlegemspets@hotmail.com

but calling will likely be faster.

In the meantime, they need to be in a cage with constant access to water --without a water bottle, a very small bowl will do; or carrot sticks and orange sections for liquid.  They need food-- if you don't have a rodent or bird mix, cereal, seeds, oatmeal, sunflower seeds, nuts, crackers, anything crunchy and not sweet is ok for a couple of days.  They can have some crunchy vegetables too, and some cheese.  Their environment needs to be warm-- no less than 68 degrees, and they must have a little box of some sort with cloth or kleenex to nest in.

If you need any more help please let me know where you are and what your setup is. I can give you advice if you need to take care of them for a while until they can be rescued.

I wish them luck-- let me know what happens!

squeaks n giggles,

Natasha
