Question
I'm am planning on breeding my sow pig soon. What is the best way that I can take care of her when she is pregnant and the pup. How should I best soicalize the pups and when? What is the best way to tame a new petshop guinea pig?

Thanks in advance.:)

Answer
Hello Tamara

Just be sure that your female isnt over 6 months of age and isnt under 5 months of age when you breed, it is ok to breed her when she is over 7 months if this isnt her first litter. Start by handling the pups daily and offering treats to both mother and pups this way they will learn that if there mother isnt sacred of you then they dont need to be (it helps if they mother is tame). Let the new guinea pig get used to its new home before attempting to taem it I say leave it alone for at lest three days before you start to tame it. Take it out and put it on your lap offer treats and talk in a soft voice be sure your not in a loud place otherwise you'll scare the piggie, keep doing this for about a week and then nearly everyday adn yor guinea-pig(s) will be very tame. Be sure that when you take your piggies out that they are on your lap or on a couch so they cant fall off. The mother will need extra food/water and she will also need to not be bothered at this time, dont pick her up too offen when she is pregnant because you could harm the unborn pups. Vitamin-c is very inportant at this time I reccomend some vitamin drops on her vegtables daily a or two before breeding her and all through the pregnacy I also like to give any new piggies vitamins on there food for about a week, also be sure any new piggies are kept away from your other ones for at lest a week to be sure they arent sick.

Hope this helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
