Question
hello, I just got 2 baby guinea pigs, they are around the same age, but they are from different litters. I had my first one for a week and then decided I wanted to get a frien for it. I got the other one and they are both girls. They tend to bite eachothers butts, and noses, and just now they started to bite eachothers ears. Is this a sign that they are starting to fight? They alwasy chase eachother and when they tug on eachother ears they sqeal. Then when I seperate them it seems like they "talk" to eachother and try to see eachother. They are always on opposite ends of their igloo inside their cage and they never are nice to eachother. Are they starting to fight, or are they playing with eachother? Should I seperate them so they don't hurt eachother? Can you tell me if they are fighting or playing, and can you also tell me how I know the difference when they are fighting and playing.
Thanks,
alexandra

Answer
If they were truly fighting, you would definitely see it. There would be scuffling and squealing amongst both the guinea pigs. However, they may not be getting a along, and this could lead to true fighting.

Some guinea pigs will not bond with another guinea pig, and must be housed alone. If they continue to bite, nip, and refuse to get along, my suggestion would be to seperate them into different cages, as this could lead to injuries.

Hope this helps!
