Guinea Pig wont eat pellets

Question
My 2 month old guinea pig does not have any interest in eating her pellets.  She eats tons of timothy hay, loves fresh spinach, grapes, apples and green peppers.  I feed her a Vitamin C drop every day which she always eats right away.  But her pellet food sits for days in her bowl and she just digs out the "goodies" that come in the bag of food, but not the pellets.  Should this concern me?  Thanks for any guidance.

Answer
Selective feeding is very common when feeding muesli type dry food and is not good for dental wear. Most of the bits that the guinea picks out don't need much chewing and therefore can cause overgrown teeth especially the molars(back teeth)
The pellets that the guinea pig is leaving are hay pellets. Guinea pigs and rabbits that eat plenty of hay will leave these.

To stop the selective feeding i suggest you feed your Guinea pig a extruded all in one pellet containing vitamin c and probiotics (good for the digestive system)The ones i have used are, Burgess excel, Pets at homes own GP pellet and Supreme science select.
There are alternative types in the USA. Read the packaging and never feed Rabbit pellets to Guinea pigs as they have a different balance of ingredients and fibre and can contain coccidiostats
