Loss of appetite

Question
Hi, I usually feed my guinea pig carrots (about 2-3/ day) and lately he has not wanted to eat them.  He normally is overly excited to get his daily treats, but he doesn't seem to eat them anymore.  I noticed this about 4 days ago.  He also seems to be a little more lethargic.

Answer
Is it possible that it's the heat that has him feeling sluggish?  During these hot days their appetites will drop. If he's not wanting to drink or eat anything at all there may be a problem.

Try giving him lettuce to see if that might encourage him. If he's outside where it's warm you can put some frozen water bottles in his cage. I use the kind of drinking bottles that we all use and just put tap water in them and stick them in the freezer. When it gets hot in my caviary we put bottles in each cage.  The pigs drape all over them and love them. It helps keep them cool

As long as he eats anything at all he's probably okay. If he's refusing to eat anything you may need to have him seen by a vet to see what the problem is.
