Gerbil Bite

Hi there. I've been bitten by a gerbil (while fighting with his playmates to grab a treat, and mistaking my finger as a seed!) and my hand has swollen up and is very sore. Is this something I need to worry about it? Thanks.

Hi lisa,

Normally no, you shouldn't need to worry about it, but the fact that it is swollen up and is sore means it may be infected, and so it may be a good idea to visit the doctors just to make sure it is healing ok!! It might be that you need antibiotics.
