Question
i just recently lost my ferret. he passed away a few days ago and im not sure why. he has had the proper care and shots that he needed. there were no signs of any type of illness with him. he was eating and drinking good. i had let him out of his cage over the past weekeend and he seemed fine. any ideas as to what may have happened to cause his sudden passing. my ferret was around 11 yrs. old.

Answer
I'm so sorry you lost your little ferret, Karen.  You are very lucky to have had him for so long.  The normal lifespan for a ferret is 8 to 9 years so I would say he died of old age.  I have 19 ferrets as you probably read in my profile.  I had one pass away recently too, I'm sure of old age as he looked like he was asleep.

I hope I have helped you.  Believe me,  eleven years is an old age for a ferret.

Mary

Thank you for your response and survey Karen.  If I can ever help you again if you get any more ferrets just let me know.
