Question
hello.
i have just a acquired a 9 week old kit and am a first timer. i have read in your previous post that a great recourse is the book on ferrets for dummies... will be looking up my library for this! i do have a question in the mean time, though. i would judt like to know if it is ok to to let my kit (harley) nip and bite when playing around or should i not let him do this at all. it just seems like he needs that rough play so much that i am unsure how to go about it. i have tied up a dishcloth, tried rolling around toilet paper rolls, but he is only interested in nipping me....
i would really appreciate some help. i need to get this right as i have my son and my dog that need to be able to all co-exist happily together with harley and would like him to be a big part of the fam. thankyou!

Answer
Much like a puppy, ferret kits nip and explore the world with their teeth.  This is normal behavior.  While I wouldn't let him do it (keep my hands away from him), it usually stops between 4-6 months of age.  Make sure he has plenty of appropriate things to chew on and play with and lots of enrichment to keep him (and his mouth) busy.
