Question
my ferret is still a baby cant remember how old but i think shes about 1 or 2 years now a few days ago she was fine and now she is very weak. She walks but in a wobbly form, she tilts to the side and falls and just lays there for a min. and gets up again and just does the same thing repeatedly. She is very skinny and i can feel her spine. I give her food and water and she doesn't eat and only drinks a bit of water I've forced a bit of syrup in her mouth to raise her glucose and I've tried to give her water by force too, not to much at the same time just little by little but she fights to keep her mouth closed and moves to much when trying to give her something. i try to have her walk but she always wobbles and she either goes under my coffee or finds a warm corner and lays there and sleeps...so my question is how can i get her eat more to regain her strength???

Answer
Hello Leslie,

Your ferret is very sick and needs veterinary attention now.  Ferrets do not do well without eating frequent meals (every 4-6 hours) and the symptoms you describe tell me she is a very sick ferret.  At this point, you could force feed her, but even this will not fix the situation.  You need to have her seen by a vet NOW and try to figure out what is causing the problem or she will only continue to get worse.

It concerns me that that she is a young ferret, and something is VERY VERY wrong. Please have her seen ASAP if you want to have any hope of saving her.  This is not something that you can fix without prompt medical attention.  Go to the nearest ER clinic or school of veterinary medicine.  The longer you wait, the less likely it will be she will get better even with help.
