Two new ferrets.

Question
I just got two DEW ferrets (male + female) about 6 days ago. My Ferret Delver is about a year and has never bee with other ferrets till now. I do have them in seperate cages and let them socialize while I am in the room by letting them out in there play area; which consists of two rooms and a hall way. The Male DEW (Rogue) Gets alone with Delver and does not try ad dominate him. On the other hand, the Female DEW (Regal)Trys to what is seems as dominate him every time she sees him. After a broken up brawl, delver gets very lathargic and runs to the safety of my lap. The female keeps at it, trying to get to Delver and persists on bullying. She does do this ocasionaly with her brother. Delver is a very energetic little boy and is best buds with our dog, and it pains me to see him get so sad. I would like to know your ideas of how to deal/ or stop this. All ferrets are spayed/neutered. I noticed the female does not show any signs of play, she doesn't ever want to which is why i called her Regal. She is kind to human contact, does not bite but licks, same with her brother. So i am not sure what could be the problem.

At first, they got along fine until the female began to do this. Delver showed signs of acceptance right away, but then the female turned on him. And he does not favour her presence now. PLease help. I amy have to get rid of the female, and that would break my heart. The two DEWs are (i think) not yet a year.

Thank you.

Answer
The only thing you can really do is let them do what they do. Ferrets have a very distinct "pecking order" within groups, this is nothing to worry about. Just keep an eye on them for the first few weeks to make sure they are not harming each other (if one of them is screaming, bleeding, or pooping during play, then it's no longer friendly). Ferrets just need to establish dominance and figure out who's going to be the boss. After that, ferrets will always play rough, so try not to worry.
