confusing conflicting flea treatment advice.

Question
I'm in the uk and there is no evective flea treatment I can find licenced in ferrets. My vet wants to use stronghold kitten spot on's. How ever somepeople have told me never to use that one and never to use a spot on for ferrets. Please help as I can't really get treatment till im sure its safe.
I relise your not a vet however I'm not sure who to ask everyone has diffrent ideas about what is safe.

I can only tell you what I have used....I have used an over the counter kitten spot=on flea medication.  They are not full strength and are made for kittens.  They have worked.  I have also flea bombed their space and tried a mild (kitten) flea shampoo.
