Question
Hello I was wondering if private pofessinaltraining classes are of benifit fromjust training at home? to date my home training efforts with my dogs havent gone well acctually very wrong to be exact. I am planning on another large breed puppy a labrador retreiver to be exact and was wonering what age is best to enroll in private perfessinal classes(I am very shy so this is why I say private classes)? Some trainers say they start at 8 weeks but I know a puppy is not supposed to be aaround strangedogs...or where strange dogs have been until they have had most or all of there puppy vaccines. Would enrolling at 4/5 months be too late a start? I'm not sure if I can afford to enroll hte pup right away or if its advisable to enroll such a young puppy anyways.
Thank you.

Answer
It's never too late to begin training, and there ARE trainers that will come to your house instead of you taking your dog to a training facility, so if you go that route, you can begin training as soon as you get your new dog. However, I would not recommend adding another dog to your family until you have your current dog at least trained to sit, lay down, stay in position until told to move, come when called, and walk on a leash without pulling. These are the basics. I have some videos on YouTube that you might find helpful for training each of these commands, if you'd like the links to them.
