blue nose pit bull puppy hyperactive

Question
Hi I have a blue nose pitbull(im not sure her exact age I kno she is less than 1yr old) any way she is so hyper 24-7. and she acts like is starving, when ever i go out to feed her, to the point of her actually choking on the food, because she is eating it so fast. And you can forget about taking a nice calm walk with her, she pulls so badly on the leash the whole time im practically running the whole way. I thought maybe she needed to go for a walk more frequently, but when I was doing that i was just enfing up with rope burn on my hands from her pulling so bad. Once we get to the beach I will take her off the leash and she stays right with me, she wont stray or try to run but the walk there is terrible. I have managed to get her to sit when I tell her, for instance when I am going to give her a treat, i will tell her to sit and then be easy and she will, or when i go to feed her she is going crazy all excited and then i tell her no sit, before i will give her her food and she will.but i think she might seriously need Ritalin or something for hyper activity. LOL any tips and suggestions are very much needed and apprecieated. thanks again.

Answer
I believe a big part of your issue is that it sounds like you keep her outside.  All dogs are very interactive with their humans, and pits are even more so.  When you remove her form the daily interaction, she is going to be extremely over the top when she does get that attention.

The first recommendation I have is to integrate her into your home more-even if you do not choose to have an indoor dog you are going to need to make a much more concerted effort to spend time with her.  I would also strongly recommend a basic obedience class.  The socialization is key to having a well-mannered dog-especially when talking about a pit bull.

And the fact that she is high energy is very normal-this is a breed that is built to be an athlete....and not the golfing, riding around in a golf cart kind!  Getting her started in agility, weight pull, flyball, tracking or even disc dog events would be a tremendous help to burn that steam in an acceptable manner.
