Howling at Night

Question
My dogs have started howling at night (2am) to be let out of their room so they can come and sleep with us. We have tried ignoring them (but they just keep going) for over a week.
What can I do to stop this. It has only started recently and they are 2 and 7 yrs of age.
Regards Jacqui

Answer
Hello Jacqui,

The great thing about dogs is that they are social animals. I'm a believer in letting our dogs share our sleeping space. I advise my clients to have their dogs in a crate until potty trained and then allow them to sleep on the floor in the bedroom. This promotes lifelong bonding, reduces stress and is a natural behavior.

So I guess my advice to you would be to stop separating your dogs from their pack (you) and the howling will stop.

Good Luck!

Sandy
