bolter

Question
So we found out this dog is also a bolter (maybe that's why she was running loose in the street when I first found her...) Every time the front door is opened, someone has to hold her or she'll dash out and run off. So far, two blocks is the farthest she's gotten before we've caught her. Is it possible to break this lovely habit somehow?

Use doors in the house to train her, on a lead to always sit and wait every time a door is opened, then wait to be invited through it, after the person has gone through.  You will need to teach her a sit and wait away from the door before you teach in the context of an open door. Reward her before going though the door, not after.
