fence jumper: female husky

hi my name is lisa i have a 5 year old female siberian husky and a 3 year old female husky x malamute (other dogs pup). my 5 year old husky jumps the fence wether im home or not. we got angel when she was 11 mths old and we where her 4th owner, i got in contact with the first owner through the vets as she is a very timid dog (is scared of most people) she is a lot better now. the first owner told me she was bashed at 6 weeks old by a family member. she is scared of lowed noise e.g.. fire works, thunder. the vet has given us tablets for storms. we have a six foot fence she hasn't jumped for a fair while but in the last couple of weeks has jumped twice. i am worried that she will teach the other dog. i am going to have her desexed in a couple of weeks was just wondering if this will help? we have her chain up when we are not home so that we know where she is.

Spaying a bitch does not usually change her behaviors.

It's likely that she jumps the fence because she is frightened of a noise or an upcoming storm. Drugs seldom cure these phobias. Curing the problem requires a program of systematic desensitization and counter conditioning. Visit http://www.starfire-rapport.com/ for help with noise phobias.
