Crate confinement due to injury

Question
My 8 month old Yorkie, Bailey, 3 pounds 13 ounces, was seen by a Vet 2 days ago. Bailey, my puppy has some type of injury to his neck and spine.
X-rays were taken, no fractured or breaks. Without an MRI which I can not afford the Vet recommended the following: Complete crate confinement for 7 days except for going potty.
Harness on Bailey. Medications are steroid and Valium. My question is how can I make him more comfortable??? He is use to always being with me and only crate for sleeping.
I am afraid this 7 day healing period is going to physiologically damage Bailey. Please help, I love him so much.
Thanks you so much
Shirley

Answer
If he will stay nicely in a pet purse, you could carry him around with you. But realize that this may encourage separation anxiety and such. However, if he's just going to freak out in the crate it might be worth the risk to avoid him hurting himself further.
