Question
I have a toy rat terrior.  He is 3 yrs old and about 9lbs.  Last night he went to bed fine and when he woke up he won't walk. His back leg is hurting. I don't have the money to take him to the vet right now.  what can i do for him.  His leg has hunt in the past but he just limped on is he's always been able to walk.  Thanks

Answer
Hi Britt,
Sorry to tell you, but he really needs veterinary attention.  You might be able to relieve some of the pain by giving him a warm bath.  He may have severe arthritis and he will need a Vet to presribe meds.  If I were you, I would call my vet and see if he/she will work out something with you.  Most Vets will not just send you a bill, because many people end up not paying.  However, you can suggest a payment plan such as taking the total amount of the bill and split it up into smaller amounts on different checks, then they deposit each check a week or so apart.  This is how I had eye surgery done on my cat. I couldn't afford to pay it up front, however, I was able to make small payments per week.  I wrote four separate checks and they deposited them a week apart.
There is no way that I can tell what is wrong with your dog online, a Veterinarian needs to see him.

Good luck and God bless,
Becky
