grooming my shih tzu

hello, i live in nj and have a 2 year old male shih tzu.  i wanted to start grooming him myself.  i have always taken him to the groomers so i don't know what type of clippers to get or what size or finish.  i was thinking that clippers that are quiet would be good so that i dont have to worry about him getting scared of that.  also if you have any other advice i would appriciate it.  thanks for your time , jen

The Oster A5 or the Andis clippers have both worked well for me.  There is dettachable blades for different lengths...as well as snap on plastic combs for the longer lengths. Get a book or search the net for grooming tips as they are too involved to get into here.  Practice is the best way to learn. Remember, its hair and it grows back.
