Toy Fox Terrier Sheds More Than We Want

Question
I am a little confused about shedding in Toy Fox Terriers. We have a 1 year old toy fox terrier who sheds more than we hoped. I understand they may shed a little. I have been told that it is rather common for them to shed a couple of times a year but our dog sheds year round. He is an inside dog if that makes any difference.

He gets brush with a rubber mit two or three times a week and now a wire brush too in hopes that it would help. It hasn't.

Is this common or maybe a diet problem?  Do supplements help? And what brand if they do? Thanks

Answer
Hi Erik,
I used to own a TFT, and I don't remember her shedding that much, but then, I vacuumed about every day so maybe I didn't notice.  You can try putting some oil in his diet, that might help.  You can buy a special vitamin oil over the counter, or just put a little vegetable oil on his food every day.  (not too much though, it will give him diarrhea).  You can also try bathing him with a medicated shampoo, it might help.  (let it sit on him for about 10 min before rinsing).

God Bless,
Becky
