bark collars

QUESTION: Our neighbor and the Multnomah County animal control are saying our dogs have to where bark collars 24/7.. We just got back from out of state and one of the dogs has open soars from the collar. Isn't it true that it is inhumane to keep bark collars on them for long periods? Do you have any advice on what we can do?

ANSWER: I don't like bark collars, or any other collar that is left on an unattended dog. It's VERY dangerous.
You need to address the issues that are causing your dogs to bark.

QUESTION: Our dogs only bark when people are walking in the forest behind our house, when someone comes to the door and when the neighbor blows a dog whistle or antagonize them. This man is  saying our dogs bark from 20-40 mins at a time. There is always someone home, so we know for a fact that he's lying. We now have to go to "court" for his lies.. Is there any thing we can do about multnomah County?

Answer
You'll be able to state your case in court. Get video tapes of what's going on. Statements from other people, neighbors, friends , family anybody who can back up what you're saying. If you can prove he's lying, and I see no reason that you can't, you'll beat him in court. Keep a journal, WRITE down everything! Everytime they bark, how long they bark, how long they go without barking. Do it hour to hour. The more video, audio, and written information you have to back up your story the more likely you are to beat him.
