Question
Hello and thank you in advance for helping me.  Last thursday someone kicked in my gate and stole my two pomeranians. We had babies on the 13th of march.  The puppies are now 4 weeks old and I just want to make sure that I am doing everything correctley to give them the best start in life. I am mixing Goats milk and canned puppy food together and feeding it to them about every 3 hour's.  They are eating fine and drinking water (sort of) when I offer it to them after they eat. When sould I try to give them watered down dry dog food?  I don't mind the mess feeding them I just would like to know the proper steps. Please any advice would be greatley appreciated.  I have looked everywhere for the mom and Dad , Pound Every day, Flyers, Driving around, Walking around someone has them I think.  I am really worried about these beautiful babies.  I just want to do right by them.  Thank you

Answer
Hi Melissa-

I am so sorry to hear about their parents, I hope the culprit is caught soon and the parents returned to you!

You are doing well so far- thank God they are 4 weeks and not 2 weeks! Keep up the regular feeding of goats milk/canned premium puppy food. Add some water or pedialyte as well to the mixture to keep them hydrated. When you offer them water, mix in some plain pedialyte- this will help them get more out of the little they drink. In another week or so, they will be able to eat watered down dry food and then by 6 weeks should be eating dry food, but I would still supliment with canned premium food or yogurt, boiled chicken and cottage cheese for another week or so.

Good luck! I really hope everything works out for you!
