Question
I have been dealing with some overwhelming medical problems with my poodle Lucky. A recent dx. of diabetes, probable Cushings, dry eye(causing chronic nasty inflammation) now fast loosing his sight. He is on Rx eye meds and of course taking insulin. Not to mention the poisons I have been administering to all of my pets for flea and tick control.  I am starting over with a  a more natural and homeopathic approach with a new vet. I know that it is probably "too little, too late" but I want my dogs to live out their lives in a healthier environment. I am once again cooking for my 4 dogs.  It's a major commitment to take on with 4 dogs(45lb/15yo&13yo, 22lb/11yo, and 8lb/9yo. when I am feeding them "real food" they are clearly happier and healthier.  I am using ingredients that I am familiar with, ground beef, pork, albacore, chicken, dried beans, tofu, eggs, cottage cheese with carbs of brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal, sweet potato and veggies of dark green lettuces, bok choy, spinach, carrots. I also add nutrition yeast, fish oil and CoQ10.

Lucky is also now on BMR Complex for heart and Diabest II for diabetes from his new DVM.

My concern is that I might mix my food groups in an unhelpful or possibly harmful combination. Books and hand outs I get just don't address this issue. Am I worrying unnecessarily? Will you please give me some input as to any combinations to avoid or use together to optimize the nutritional efforts to help my guys regain their health.

I have never, before now, used an interactive forum so please excuse any lack of etiquette.

Answer
Hi Georgia,

well first of all there was no lack of etiquette at all, so no worries there. ;)
