MY DOG HAD CALCIUM OXILATE STONE SURGERY.DR.WANTS ME TO USE  HILLS PRESCRIP. UD CANNED FOOD. NO TREATS.NO DRY.JUST  THAT ONLY. I AN FAMILIER WITH RAW FOOD .I ALSO USECOMMERCIAL DIET CHICKEN SOUP FOR DOG LOVERS SOUL.I JUST ADOPTED THIS PAPPILLION MALE DOG 2 MONTHS AGO.MAYBE THE PREVIOUS OWNER FEED HIM THINGS THAT CAUSED THESE STONES.WHAT CAN I DO TO PREVENT MORE STONES.I WILL PREPARE A SPECIAL DIET OR ANYTHING LIKE MAKE HOLISTIC FOOD AT HOME.BUT THE OPTION OF HILLS PRESCRIPTION DIET IS THE ONLY OPTION I WAS TOLD ABOUT. JUST DOESNT SEEM RIGHT TO ME....
PLEASE GIVE ME SOME REAL OPTIONS.   THANK YOU,FONDA

Now, if you want some porfessioanl help, I would be glad to develop diets for your dog and his condition. Please refer to my Services page at www.thepossiblecanine.com.  I don't advise the use of generic diets from the Internet, or using books from long before the NRC Guidelines.  I do a lot of work with oxalate diets, and we can offer you much better food than Hills, balanced for optimal nutrition AND urolith control. Please contact me at catlane@thepossiblecanine.com if you are interested. Otehrwise, I'm sad to say, the Hill's is probably your best bet, ont for nutrition, but certainly for control of the stones.
