Schnauzer Scratching at Ear

20 11:24:26

Question
I've got an almost 2 year old Miniature Schnauzer, that for the last couple of days has been scratching at her ear, and just not acting like herself. The hair on the inside of both ears feels greasy... her right ear is the one with the problem, nothing wrong with the other ear. Her ear is now red, and I am pulling out redish/orange junk out of her ears. What is it? What kind of solution could I use to help?

She has also started chewing/licking on one paw, could this be connected?

Could this also be a reaction to lyme disease? In a matter of days I have found 2 ticks crawling on her, but not actually in the flesh (we apply Advantix to her monthly).

Thank you so much!

Answer
She may have ear mites. I definatly suggest taking her to the vet. IF it gets out of control it will get even more expensive as this problems starts to spread to other parts of her body. I wish there was more I could do, but its soo hard without being there. Call up your bet and tell them the problem. Some times they wont feel it neccessary for you to come in and will give you some good home remedies.. however they may want you to come in, which is best for your dogs well being anyways. best wishes!
