hi...we've just gotten this wonderful puppy, she is 6 weeks old. when she gets excited she tries to bite at everything, hard, we've gotten toys and put those in her mouth when she bites us. it's like she's a little alligator. she isn't mean, it's seems like affection. thanks beth conley

Hold her face when she does that and a FIRM "NO BITE".  And you are right in giving her a toy in place of biting you.

I had a Smooth Fox Terrier puppy that did that samething.  Be consistant though.  He finally got it though.  Now that he is older we play and he will never lay a tooth on me.  He will snap all around me but never on me.
