Answer
Hi Cody, its ok its not your fualt the puppy probaly really had something wrong with it when it was born... two in the beggining weren't alive on delivery weren't they? So you now have 11? or 10? Lossing any animal is very hard I for insitance bought a lovely handfed baby lovebird(what a darling he used to sleep under my shirt ;) He was from a quaility breeder who realyl cared about her babies, he was happy and healthy for his first 2 days and half of his third day on his third day he was chirping hopping around, crawling up and down my clothing and eating well but we went out that afternoon which I still regret doing and found him in sort of shock when we got back and hour and a half later, he was stiff, trying to strighen himself up and sit up but couldnt be couldnt make a sound he wouldnt take the water from the dropper I tryed to offer and it happened he stopped moving.... he died right in my hands, I cryed for three stright days I still wonder what he would have been like today all grown up but the breeder gave me his younger brother who is very much  a clown but I know he is never exactly what his brother would have been..... i've had little 'Merlin' for over 5 months now and he is doing great, his desecied brother 'Shane'is buried around side of the house with a little wooden cross and a beaded toy tied to it. To sit and cry about things like this helps and is better then having everything bottled up. Having said that Waht would be best to do with the other pups is if you see any getting thinner after a few days or a pup crying alot or being pushed away from her teats or her negleting to clean a pup help her with them, take the puppy out handfed it some warm properly mixed formula, wipe its bottom with a cotton ball or baby face cloth to simulate him or her to pee or poop(must to this to pervent death.. the mother does this) gentaly masaging the pups tummy with your finger in a cyriular motion is great after having feed it also, If a puppy is colder then the rest warm a towel in the dryer for a few minutes pick him or her up and wrap the pup in the towle for a few minutes feel free to pet the puppy at this time as well, after he or she is nice and warm return to the nesting box. If there are spare nipples which if there are 11 or 10 puppies there can't be lol but if a tubbyier puppy is sleeping and another cannot find a nipple attach the puppy to it by putting the pups face right in front of it it should latch on quickly. Also at about 10 to 14 days of age the pups eyes should open which is wonderful to see tehre eyes will be milky blue or milky green at this age but they do change color after several weeks. At 3 weeks of age they need supplments to there diet(not vitamins but soaked mushed food or baby grule) feel free to come to me anytime I am more then happy to help you with thelitter and caring for the lactacting mother, I've experiaanced two litters before I'm not sure If I ever told you but they were shit tuz/bichon./mini american escamo crosses(accidental litters) this was several years back but I still remember feeding the puppies, changing the boxes towels, watching the pups tear through the bedroom and shaking each other lol, we still have one of the mothers puppies and the mother acctually both are now 7 and 6 years of age... if not a bit older. Anyways take care... and take care of the doggies too, remember anytime you need anything relating to dog info(not medical questions thou unless relating to home wormers or store bought vitamin or things like that) I will help you find the anwser even if I can not answer it myself.
