sleeping issue

Our lab puppy is 4 1/2 mos old. We are having a great deal of difficulty with her sleeping through the night. She is waking up 3-4 times a night. I let her out. the first couple of times she will potty. The second couple fo times she seems to want to simply play.She's doing better with housebreaking but we still crate her at night because she's not quite there yet.


She gets about 2 hours of exercise in the morning and about 3-4 hours in the evening.

We have a bassett hound, whom the puppy is very attached to.
Don't know if she wants to be with her or not at night. the puppy does fall asleep, but she doesn't stay that way for very long.
Getting very little sleep. help!

At 4 1/2 months the pup should be able to hold it all night.  I would make sure she goes potty before bed, and allow one time half way through the night to maybe go again.  Otherwise, I would tell her "SHHH" when she makes some noise.  The more you react to her noises at night, the more she'll try that behavior.  If necessary, put her crate in the hallway or kitchen, so it doesn't keep you up.
