Question
I have a 8 month old female golden retriever who digs up the entire yard.  I don't know how to stop this behavior.  She gets plenty of exercise as we also have a 2 year old golden.  They play constantly in a big back yard.  My concern is not only the mess in the yard, but as they play rough in the yard and run around, I'm afraid one of them will get hurt with the amount of holes in the yard. Please help!!!!

Answer
I don't think there is a good solution to digging in the yard.  Some people suggest refilling the hole and burying a ballo0n or their feces.  Even if that kept them from digging there, they would just dig somewhere else.  I have also heard of making an area with sand and hiding toys and treats in it.  You can try those, but I would be surprised if they work.  Best thing is to rake the dirt back in before your mow, and hope they lose interest when they are older.
