New 2 yr old shepherd with 8 yr old Golden

Question
We just adopted a GSD mix from the local shelter. She was an unclaimed stray who recently had puppies and has the manners of a puppy herself (no evidence of obedience training).  We're working on teaching her that my husband and I are the Top Dogs, but she has a wild side to her and gets pushy for attention sometimes jumping on my poor Golden who has spent most of her years as a pampered only child.

Any words of advise to accelerate peace and acceptance between the two siblings?

Answer
I am glad you understand the importance of being top dogs.  It is essential to solving most problems.  Have you seen these rules, http://www.dogbreedinfo.com./topdogrules.htm  Treat the Golden like it outranks the Shepherd mix, feeding it first, etc.  Don't give the mix any attention if it jumps on or pushes the Golden away.

The Golden may be too old to be interested in puppy games, while the mix likely still is.  Allow the Golden to snap or growl at the mix to discourage unwanted play. Support it by correcting the mix when it focuses on the Golden or gives the play bow.  Give it a sharp ''Ah, ah, ah!'' and offer it a chew toy.  It may be a long time until the Golden accepts it.
