If available, the best thing is to feed the dog a commercial dog food and nothing else.  It is the surest way to see to it the dog gets the complete and balanced diet it needs.  The large companies have the resources to carefully formulate the food and test it.  Dog's nutritional needs are complex, but well known.  Feeding beef or other meat leaves a dog diet short of minerals and linoleic acid dogs need.
