Boston Terrier - he licks a lot and has recently developed some spots on his chest

Question
QUESTION: Hi Marie,
I have a 6 year old Boston Terrier that has recently developed some yellowish spots on this chest.  They aren't bumbs and are fairly tiny, almost pea size, but just not sure if they are a sign of something?
Also, my Boston, Tucker, has always been a licker...badly!  Any tips to help control that.  He's a vey well behaved dog besides the licking??
Thank you!!

ANSWER: Hi Laura - Many Bostons have allergies....  Thus, the excessive licking!  ( a common problem)

Also, he may have developed some obsessive compulsive licking - bad habit.

First off:
What foods do you give your Boston?  (brand, flavor)??
Also, does anyone give him any table foods or junk?
Kids slipping him food at all?

I can suggest some oils, supplements and a new food, if needed.
Also, has he lost any hair in the yellowish spot area?

Let me know...

Thanks
Marie Peppers

QUESTION: Thanks for getting back with me. It seems as if those spots on his chest have gone away...not sure what it was??
But, yes, I would definitely say Tucker has an obsessive compulsive licking habit and would LOVE to break that.  We feed him Eukanuba for medium dogs.  He doesn't receive any table or junk food - no kids either to slip him any :)

Thanks again for your help...would love to hear any tips you may have for the licking.

Answer
Hi Laura - Please take your baby OFF of the Eukanuba Dog food.  This food has so many junk fillers in it.. I know you think it is a good food but it is just average...
A better food for you baby will be Innova EVO - 99 % grain free OR
Wellness Core / another grain free offering.
The two foods can be found at any pet store.

Also, Innova Evo and Wellness Core make some treats for him that are grain free.

Please mix the Eukanuba food and the new food ( 50/50) mix x 2 weeks. Then go 100% the new food -  YOU will see a major licking change in about 30 days.

The other thing you need to do is get this baby onto NuVET Plus - the best supplement for Skin and Coat problems.... and Immune system Booster - This will give him some help to fight off allergens that are in foods or the Environment.
Also, NuVET will and should  "taper down" his OC disorder or habit of licking.
NuVET will cost you about .60 cents per day for the Wafer treat.

We can add a few other things -  down the road, a few oils?  Let's do the food change and the NuVET supplement first.
