What is the best and safest (for me) way to give a cat a pill?

I hold them by the scruff of their neck with my left hand, pull down their jaw with the middle finger of my right hand, and having the pill between my intex finger and thumb, I quickly pop the pill into the back of their throat.  Most of the time this works, but with some stubborn cats, it doesn't.  If that does not work for you, then maybe you could get help from someone, having them help hold the cat while you try it.  Good luck and write again if I can help again.   Barb
