will cat attack puppies?

Question
we are about to have the birth of six puppies at our house.  will our large cat, hunter, attack, hurt or kill the puppies after they are born?
hunter gets his name from his behavior of catching,killing, and bringing to our door , as presents, everything from birds to rabbits.

he will be curious, and probably want to sniff them, but as long as you keep an eye on him and keep the mother and babies secluded away from all other animals in the house when you are not home it should be fine. generally adult cats just hiss and swat at babies that arent theirs. its more from fear and dislike then a need to hunt. just be careful
