Cat claws

Question
Hi there,
I have only jut recently noticed that one of my cat's dew claws is protruding more than usual and it gets caught on everything.  It doesn't look to be damaged, but looks like it is constantly out instead of retracting like the other one does.
I'm wondering if it is worth taking her to the vet to get removed, or if it is likely to fix itself. I'm a little worried it might get caught and rip the claw out.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Felicity!

It will not "fix itself", it will always protrude. It would depend on how much damage is done to the claw , whether or not you should have it removed. If the cat is in a lot of pain from it being pulled or caught on stuff all the time, then I would go for it.  It's really a matter of how much does it bother your cat?  It will never change, though, so you will have to decide.

God Bless,
Becky
