Siamese aggression

Question
He had surgery for a bone spur recently.  He was declawed a year or so ago.  The aggression started after the surgery and he still limps some.

Answer
Hi Carla.  I think chronic pain is definitely a possibility.  You should get him back to the vet who performed the surgery and see if the site is healing correctly, if the surgery was successful, etc.  He may need a pain reliever while he continues to heal.

I do have to mention that aggression is a very common problem in declawed cats.  There is contention between vets who perform the surgery and vets who refuse to, but some evidence suggests over half of declawed cats end up with behavioral issues, with litter box problems being first and aggression being next in line.  Unfortunately, in these cases, there is not a whole lot to be done.
