Question
first of all these are not my cats but a very good friend of mines. one is named Cody and he wants DESPERATELY to be loved but he rarely comes in the house and almost never lets anyone pet him. he's had this problem for about 5 years and it's really hard for us to deal with it. the other one is a female name Izzy, we had her spayed and afterward she didn't want anything to do with the family, especially her son, Titan. she won't come home and when she does she attacks Titan and hisses at her family. but the peculiar thing is that if we see her on the street she will let people pet her and then she walks away. we really want both of them home. and we need to understand why they are behavior.

Answer
Hi Laura,

Thanks for writing. From what you wrote it sounds just like the opposite with Cody. He sounds like a cat who wants nothing to do with you. If you wish to bring Cody into the household that is a different matter. I need some more info about him. When he comes in does how long does he stay? Does he go crazy to get back out? How old is he? Is he fixed?
Izzy sounds like she has gone feral. She is territorial about her area. That is why she is attacking her son. Also cats do not have family ties like we have. I would suggest doing one at a time. This will be a long but rewarding process. Let me know if you want to do this. If not take care of them outside. I have a feral cat who is very friendly outside but wants nothing to do with the inside. I have taken him to be neutered and to get his vaccinations. He gets food and water from me. And I built him a shelter that he uses. He comes around for an hour or two a day in the winter and a little bit longer in the summer. That's all he wants. But he is getting cared for. This may be the case with Izzy. If they were both inside cats once before you can reintroduce them to the inside life.
Let me know what you want to do. Good luck.

Ciao, Karen
